Or l'érosion des pratiquants recompose cette condition et conduit à un débat, qui entre accusation de minorisation, refus de la marginalisation et revendication d'être minoritaire, dévoile la pluralité intrinsèque du catholicisme français. Celui-ci apparaît comme une « minorité paradoxale » puisqu'il persiste dans une revendication d'être au centre de la société. | ||

The significance of this “recognition” is to be sought in the competition which takes place between specific religious groups in public institutions (army, schools, hospitals, prison). Yet the decrease in the number of practising Catholics has reconstituted this condition and led to a debate across accusations of minorization, refusal of marginalization, and claims of minority status which reveals the intrinsic plurality of French Catholicism. This Catholicism can therefore be identified as a “paradoxic minority”, since it persists in its claim to a place at the very centre of society. | ||
| 520 | |a In Frankreich nimmt die katholische Kirche für sich eine zahlenmäßige und historische Vorrangstellung in Anspruch. Diese anerkannte Stellung hat Folgen für den Vergleich der religiösen Gruppen, insbesondere innerhalb der öffentlichen Einrichtungen (Armee, Schule, Krankenhäuser, Gefängnisse). Der schleichende Rückgang der aktiven Kirchenglieder stellt diese Stellung in Frage und führt zu einer Auseinandersetzung, die den innerkatholischen Pluralismus erkennbar werden läßt, wenn zwischen dem Vorwurf, zur Minderheit gemacht zu werden, der Ablehnung, an den Rand gedrängt zu werden und der bewussten Haltung einer Minderheit debattiert wird. Der heutige römische Katholizismus in Frankreich erscheint wie eine „ paradoxe Minderheit“ denn er hält an der Forderung fest, in der Mitte der Gesellschaft zu sein. | ||
