Summary: | The following is a reply to the supreme moderator of a clerical religious institute of pontifical right. He had granted an indult of exclaustration to a member for one year. After the year was up, the member requested an extension for two years. The supreme moderator forwarded the request to the CICLSAL in accord with the canon 686, 1, which says: “To extend an indult or grant it for more than three years is reserved to the Apostolic See.” In contrast to the literal wording of the canon, the reply of the Congregation’s undersecretary says that the supreme moderator himself is competent to grant this extension. |
