El nombre mismo de Paráclito (abogado, intercesor), es usado sólo en esta secuencia, en el conjunto del 4° Evangelio. Es un don que el Padre concede a los que lo aman, es decir, a los que observan sus mandamientos. Llamado tres veces «Espíritu de la verdad», está en oposición al mundo, que no puede percibir su presencia ni su actión, por su actitud de ceguera y rechazo al proyecto de Dios. Los discípulos, en cambio, son capaces de reconocer al Maestro Interior, de recibir su enseñanza y de dejarse conducir por El hacia la verdad completa. El Paráclito, que procede del Padre, dará testimonio de Jesús, como deberán hacer los discípulos, a lo largo de la historia, en medio de un mundo hostil. Con su venida, inicia una nueva era en la existencia cristiana. Demostrará la culpa del mundo respecte del pecado, de la justicia y del juicio. In the so-called Farewell Discourses of Jesus (John 13,31-16,33), a long and intimate communication of the Lord to His disciples, we find a series of sayings about the Paraclete. To understand them, I propose a reading from the unifying perspective of revelation. The name itself, Paraclete (advocate, intercessor), is used in the Fourth Gospel only in this sequence. The Paraclete is a gift given by the Father to those who love Him, that is, to those who observe His commandments. Called three times Spirit of Truth, the Paraclete is in opposition to the world, which, because of its attitude of blindness to and rejection of the divine project, is able to perceive neither His presence nor His action. The disciples, instead, can recognize the Inner Master, perceive His teaching and let Him guide them into the complete truth. The Paraclete, who proceeds from the Father, will testify about Jesus, as will the disciples as well-along the history, in the middle of a hostile world. The Paraclete's coming will be the beginning of a new era in the experience of discipleship soon to be named Christian. The Paraclete will demonstrate the guilt of the world concerning sin, justice and judgment. | ||
