It proposes a mediation of Pope Francis's thought to guide the conduct of a global, academic, and «contextual» exercise in theology and suggests that the thought of Bernard Lonergan and Robert Doran can provide rigorous foundations for this mediation. It explores this point by studying themes that include: the conversion of the theologian, epistemology and history, an option for the poor, the evangelization of culture, the importance of popular piety, and the situation as source of theology.
