I argue that the tension is more apparent than real by comparing Augustine's pastoral recommendation of a pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Felix of Nola in the first half of his 78th letter to the discussion of the shrines of the martyrs and their role in Christian life in Book 22 of the City of God. This comparison offers a glimpse into Augustine's thought about the relationship between soul and the body and the passions and the reason in man, highlighting Christianity's concern for the whole of the human person. In questo articolo rispondo alla tesi di Brouria Bitton-Ashkelony secondo la quale esiste una tensione tra il pensiero teologico di Agostino e le sue direttive pastorali sul pellegrinaggio cristiano ai luoghi sacri, in particolare ai santuari dei martiri. Sostengo che questa tensione è più apparente che reale, confrontando la raccomandazione di Agostino di un pellegrinaggio al santuario di San Felice di Nola nella prima metà della sua Lettera 78 con la discussione dei santuari dei martiri e il loro ruolo nella vita cristiana nel libro 22 della Città di Dio. Questo confronto offre uno sguardo del pensiero di Agostino sul rapporto tra l'anima e il corpo nonché quello tra le passioni e la ragione dell'uomo, sottolineando il riguardo del cristianesimo per la persona umana nel suo insieme. | ||
