Le savant lovaniste y évoque l'intérêt d'Orbe pour les découvertes de Nag Hammadi, mais estime que celui-ci est resté en retrait du développement des études gnostiques, en particulier à partir des années 1980, où la définition du valentinisme s'est diversifiée et où, par la suite, la notion même de gnosticisme s'est trouvée remise en cause. Au fond, l'Introduction s'inscrit dans la continuité de la vision conflictuelle qui est celle d'Irénée, où s'opposent d'une part la tradition apostolique et ses prolongements théologiques, de l'autre des élaborations déviantes. Pour B. Dehanschutter, il convient dans certains cas d'aller au-delà d'une telle division et de proposer la catégorie d'écrits « sapientiels » reçus par divers groupes chrétiens, il suggère aussi que la culture alexandrine a pu jouer un tel rôle intermédiaire. We publish here posthumously the contribution, intended by the professor B. Dehandschutter, to the French edition of A. Orbe's Introduction, in which the Leuvanist scholar mentions the interest of Orbe in the discoveries of Nag Hammadi, but reckons him to be in the background of the development of the Gnostic studies, especially from the 80's where the definition of Valentinianism has shifted in various ways and where, thereafter, the notion of Gnosticism itself was reconsidered. Indeed, the Introduction fits into the continuity of the contentious vision which is Irenaeus', where they are in contradiction: on the one hand, the apostolic tradition and its theological extensions, on the other, deviant developments. For B. Dehandschutter, it is advisable to go beyond such a division and to offer the «sapiential» writing category received by various Christian groups, he also suggests that the Alexandrian culture could have played such an intermediary role. | ||
