A tout moment, il a comme point de référence les travaux de Harnack, auxquels il recourt systématiquement pour faire allusion aux témoignages indirects sur Marcion recueillis et ordonnés par le chercheur allemand. Sans le déclarer ouvertement, Orbe réélabore presque systématiquement les esquisses de Harnack, pour confirmer ce qui avait été déjà posé, quelques années avant, par l'allemand, ou, au contraire, critiquer les hypothèses lancées par celui-ci (c'est le cas, par exemple, du modalisme de Marcion), ou tout du moins atténuer certaines affirmations de Harnack à propos des différents thèmes traités. En plus d'une occasion, l'investigation d'Orbe ouvre des horizons en posant de nouvelles questions. The chosen topic highlighted the omnipresence of the Marcionitic question in very crucial points of the pre-Nicean theory. A. Orbe continually showed a particular interest in this question; more importantly, his interest was growing as he was making progress in his research. He constantly has Harnack's works as a base point, to which he resorts consistently to make a reference to the indirect testimonies about Marcion received and put in order by the German researcher. Without declaring it openly, Orbe redevelops almost consistently Harnack's outlines to confirm what was already written, a few years ago, by the German, or, on the contrary, to criticize the hypothesis launched by him (for example, it is the case of the modalism of Marcion), or at least soften some affirmations of Harnack about the different topics handled. On more than one occasion, Orbe's investigation opens horizons by asking new questions. | ||
