L'article fait l'hypothèse que ce choix n'est pas seulement dicté par l'importance des auteurs, mais par une cohérence théologique plus doctrinale qui aurait échappé à son auteur même. En effet, la théologie balthasarienne est une théologie de l'amour et de l'amour de don; et, toujours selon notre auteur, le don présente trois «aspects»: la kénose, la fécondité et l'enveloppement. Or, il paraît possible de distribuer ces études patristiques selon ces trois formes d'amour: la kénose avec Origène, la fécondité avec Grégoire de Nysse, l'enveloppement avec Maxime le Confesseur. La trilogie patristique de Balthasar se présente donc comme une première ébauche de la théologie de l'amour datif que développera la grande Trilogie. When arriving in Lyon, the young Jesuit Hans Urs von Balthasar discovered the Greek Fathers and planned a trilogy on three of them — Origen, Gregory of Nyssa and Maximus the Confessor —, which came out as three monographs, acclaimed in their time. The article is based on the assumption that this choice was not dictated by the importance of these authors, but by a more doctrinal theological consistency that might have escaped the author himself. Indeed, Balthasarian theology is a theology of love and of love as giving; and, still according to our author, giving has three «aspects»: kenosis, fecundity and envelopment. Moreover, it seems possible to distribute these patristic studies according to these three forms of love: kenosis with Origen, fecundity with Gregory of Nyssa, envelopment with Maximus the Confessor. Thus, Balthasar's patristic trilogy presents itself as a first draft of the theology of giving love which will be developed in his great Trilogy. | ||
