总结:Francisco Suárez (1548-1617) is often considered one of the most important Jesuit theologians ever, yet his work does not seem sufficiently well known. He lived in times of momentous change in all areas of life, and of exceptional creativity in theology. This article places Suarez in this context, concentrating on his understanding of justice from the perspective of the common good. His fine analytic mind dissects and provides new insights to the traditional concepts of common good, the various types of the virtues of justice — legal, commutative and distributive — and the relationship between them.
