Cette déclaration de Descartes dans le Préambule des Cogitationes Privatae (1619) n'est pas que l'aveu d'un jeune philosophe à l'aube du XVIIe siècle, mais marque une stratégie maintenant séculaire selon laquelle philosophie et théologie devraient être séparées tant dans leurs disciplines que dans leur corpus. Jean-Luc Marion, témoin exemplaire de cette dichotomie, use ainsi de la démarche dionysienne de l'homme caché devant Dieu (larvatus pro Deo) comme justification théologique de l'avance masquée du philosophe (larvatus prodeo). Le gain unilatéral pour la philosophie est cependant une perte pour la théologie. À partir de la double hypothèse bonaventurienne du «Dieu proche» et de la «monadologie trinitaire», cet article trace une autre voie pour notre aujourd'hui — non pas contraire à la précédente, mais la poussant en quelque sorte «à son terme», ne craignant pas cette fois de revendiquer la fécondité explicite de la phénoménologie pour la théologie ellemême: non larvatus sed detecta fonte prodeo — j'avance non pas voilé mais à visage découvert. «As I step out onto this stage of the world [...], I walk forward with a mask on». This declaration of Descartes in the Preamble of his Cogitationes Privatae (1619) is not only the statement of a young philosopher at the dawn of the XVII Century, but it also indicates a new secular strategy according to which philosophy and theology would henceforth have to be separated, both in their theoretical approach and in the matter they consider. Jean Luc-Marion, exemplary witness to this dichotomy, thus uses the Dionysian approach of the human being before God (larvatus pro Deo) as a theological justification for the masked advance of the philosopher (larvatus prodeo). The unilateral benefit of this shift for philosophy is a corresponding loss for theology. Adopting Bonaventure's double hypothesis of the «God who is close» and of the «Trinitarian monadology» as a point of departure, this article suggests another approach for today, an approach that is not opposed to the preceding one, but rather that pushes it to «its limit», not afraid this time to claim for theology the obvious fruitfulness of phenomenology: non larvatus sed detecta fonte prodeo — I move forward not veiled but with my face uncovered. | ||
