Description
Summary:The metaphysical endeavour aims at the last and encompassing explanation of beings. Formal ontologies have somehow attained that aim; the same has been taken up again by philosophies seeking to explain the ultimate and encompassing meaning of existence. The philosophy of L'action (1893) of Maurice Blondel is, with others, at the origin of this search. The first part of the article comments on the first three points of the last chapter — difficult but astonishingly rigorous — of the work. Knowledge and will are thus considered here, while a "reflection" is also proposed on the entire course of L'action and its ontological conditions.
