The essay tries to answer this question examining the most relevant texts of the philosopher. Merleau-Ponty does not discuss the ecological question expressly and directly, but, through his critic of marxism and communism, he draws the necessity of reevaluate the concept of nature. From a philosophical point of view, it is the concept of Stiftung that plays a fondamental role in focusing an idea of nature and ecology free from the metaphysics of a pure origin. Finally, as the question of the relation between the French philosopher and the Frankfurt School is relevant from the point of view of the ecological problem, some hints are given about the short and undeveloped dialogue that Merleau-Ponty weaved with Adorno in Paris in 1961. | ||
