Summary: | In the present debate on the end of life, there is a return of attention to the patient’s assistance and accompanying process. The article reads this process considering the contribution the notion of autonomy can bring when intended as relational and mutual, presents the legislation of some European countries – France, Belgium and Italy – and analyzes which role and function narratives and spirituality can play in order to recognize the patient as a « subject of life » until the end. |
