È possibile che vi siano dei limiti intrinseci a tale visione del mondo, che permettano di eludere le sue pretese senza cadere nell’indeterminismo e nel caos? Soprattutto, c’è qualcosa nella realtà che non ricade nel suo ambito? In questo lavoro intendo mostrare quali siano le limitazioni interne al determinismo, le quali impediscono la pretesa che l’universo sia un semplice dispiegarsi di stati di cose univocamente concatenati tra loro, dipendenti unicamente dallo stato precedente e dall’azione delle leggi di natura su di esso evitando il ricorso all’intervento del caso all’interno degli eventi; il tutto partendo dall’assunzione di tutti i presupposti del determinismo e ammettendo una pluralità di catene causali che si trovassero ad interferire tra loro; interpreterò in tale ottica il problema dei tre corpi, e suggerirò una visione della natura che vada oltre i limiti del determinismo. All theories have boundaries and the theories’ implications cannot be verified beyond these boundaries. Is this the case also when it comes to a philosophical theory such as determinism? Are there boundaries for this theory too, so that we are forced to go beyond its assumption, even though we are not compelled to endorse indeterminism or chaos? More importantly: is there anything that falls beyond this theory? In this article, I show that the internal boundaries of determinism entail that the universe cannot be a series of states of affairs that are univocally connected to each other so that they depend exclusively on the causal action of the preceding state of affair and of the laws of nature, thereby excluding chance. In my analysis, I consider all the assumptions of determinism and a plurality of causal chains that may interfere with each other. I will tackle the “three bodies problem” according to this perspective and I shall propose a theory of nature that goes beyond the limits of determinism. | ||
