Nifo combines a basic peripateticism with ‘eclecticism’, synthesizing Aristotelian, Averroist, Platonic, Neoplatonic, and magical-hermetic motifs. Despite the absence of direct citation, Nifo appears to use (and sometimes criticize) Aquinas’s commentaries at various points in his treatises; it seems therefore probable that Aquinas influenced his interpretation of Averroes. First, the paper identifies Nifo ‘s attitude towards those theories of Aquinas that served his own arguments; second, it analyzes how Nifo’s ambivalent relationship to Aquinas makes manifest Nifo’s complicated, evolving, and synthetic philosophical thought. Questo articolo valuta l’interesse di Agostino Nifo nei confronti di Tommaso d’Aquino, «il primo espositore» di Aristotele. Nifo amalgama un suo fondamentale aristotelismo con spunti eclettici, sintetizzando motivi averroistici, platonici, neoplatonici e magicoermetici. Nonostante l’assenza di citazioni dirette, sembra che Nifo, in vari punti dei suoi trattati, faccia ricorso (talora criticamente) ai commenti dell’Aquinate; sembra quindi probabile che Tommaso abbia influenzato la sua interpretazione di Averroè. In primo luogo, l’articolo descrive l’atteggiamento tenuto dal Nifo verso le dottrine tomistiche che risultavano utili al fine del proprio ragionamento. In secondo luogo, il presente contributo analizza il rapporto ambivalente di Nifo nei confronti di Tommaso d’Aquino. | ||
