(2) Non si tratta solo di un problema ‘onto-logico’, dal momento che esso riguarda la morte e la sofferenza umana. (3-4) Il discorso sul non essere costituisce la “fondazione” della innegabilità della verità (l’essere), perché mostra che persino la sua negazione la conferma. Ora, proprio in quanto innegabile, la verità implica la negazione (persino se volessimo negare ciò saremmo costretti a confermarlo), ma allora (5) pare che ogni ente, e quindi pure il positivo, sia negativo. Per sfuggire a questa trappola (6-8) dobbiamo distinguere l’innegabile fatto che la verità implica la negazione dall’assunzione che la verità in quanto tale è una negazione. In effetti, proprio l’innegabilità della verità mostra quella dimensione per la quale ogni negazione è una contraddizione, dal momento che la verità stessa, nella misura in cui è una negazione, nega qualcosa (la sua negazione) che a sua volta afferma la verità. (9) Testimoniare questa dimensione ‘puramente positiva’ della verità è il vero, benché difficile e paradossale, compito della filosofia. (1) The solution of a philosophical problem modifies the meaning of the words we use to put it; so the “non being” problem is doomed to change the meaning of words like “negation” and “difference”. (2) It is not only an ‘onto-logical’ problem, since it concerns the problem of death and of human suffering. (3-4) The discourse about non being constitutes the “foundation” of the fact that truth (being) is undeniable, because it shows that even the negation of truth (non being) confirms it. But, just as undeniable, truth implies negation (even if we should negate this we would confirm it), and so (5) it seems that everything, and hence even the positive, is negative. In order to escape this trap (6-8) we have to distinguish the undeniable fact that truth implies negation from the assumption that truth itself is a negation. Indeed, just the undeniable truth shows the dimension for which every negation is a contradiction, since truth itself, insofar as it is a negation, negates something (its negation) which on turn affirms truth. (9) To testify this ‘purely positive’ dimension of truth is the true, although difficult and paradoxical, task of philosophy. | ||
