Infatti, la matematica, che è nata a partire dalle esperienze elementari del contare (aritmetica) e del misurare (geometria), dopo aver conosciuto un lungo periodo di formalizzazione sempre più avanzata, a partire dai paradossi della teoria degli insiemi e dal teorema di incompletezza di Gödel, sembra essere nuovamente costretta a tornare a rivolgersi all'esperienza quale criterio adatto per la decidibilità e a riconsiderare l'antica dottrina aristotelico-tomista dell'analogia al fine di evitare contraddizioni neirambito dei sistemi assiomatici. Un nuovo interesse per la metafisica, poi, sembra coinvolgere addirittura gli informatici e gli ingegneri ehe si trovano più di una volta nella necessità di mettere a punto un'ontologia formale. Questa nuova strada verso la metafisica potrà dimostrarsi interessante anche per i filosofi? The question on the foundations of mathematics arisen at the time of Hilbert, Cantor, Gödel and other well known mathematicians and logicians has opened new relevant approaches to science. Mathematics, born from the natural experience of counting (arithmetic) and measuring (geometry), after a period of higher and higher formalization, starting from the paradoxes of set theory and Gödel's incompleteness theorem, seems now to be compelled to come back to experience as suitable a decidability criterion and to reconsider the ancient Aristotelian-Thomistic doctrine of analogy in order to avoid contradictions within axiomatic systems. Moreover a new interest in metaphysics appears to involve even computer scientists and engineers who are sometimes engaged in developing some formal ontology. Could such scientific way to metaphysics reveal some interest also for philosophers? | ||
