Close attention is paid to the Treaty of Tordesillas, which famously has divided the New World in two areas under Spanish and Portuguese influence. The second subject invites the reader to pay closer attention to the evolution of the competence of the Pope in matter of marriages among Christian Princes. Among the cases to which special attention will be given in this context is Henry VIII’s marriage to Anne Boleyn.
