Repoussé par les navires du roi, l'amiral des Huguenots pratique depuis Belle-Île une intense piraterie qui terrorise tout le littoral Atlantique. After the St-Bartholomew's day massacre, Gabriel de Lorges Count of Montgomery appeared as one of the most important leaders among the survivors of the huguenot party. Supported by Elizabeth I, Montgomery prepared a naval expedition which left from England in order to break the blockade of La Rochelle organised by the royal army besieging the city. Repelled by the king's ships, the Admiral of the Huguenots then terrorized the entire Atlantic coast by actively practising piracy from his base at Belle-Île. Nach dem Massaker der Bartholomäusnacht scheint Gabriel de Lorges, Graf von Montgomery, einer der wichtigsten Chefs der Hugenottepartei geworden zu sein. Mit der Unterstützung von Elisabeth I. bereitet Montgomery eine Seeexpedition von England aus vor. Ziel ist es, die Blockade der königlichen Armee vor der belagerten Stadt von La Rochelle zu durchbrechen. Von den Schiffen des Königs aber weggedrängt, organisiert dann der Admiral der Hugenotten eine intensive Piraterie von Belle-Île aus und hält den ganzen atlantischen Küstenbereich in Furcht und Schrecken. | ||
