Son œuvre est marquée par l'évolution culturelle et technique de son temps: dans le domaine de l'écriture, du dessin et du «sentiment de la nature», il fut, par son approche du paysage, représentatif du Romantisme; par sa passion pour la géologie et la paléontologie, il accompagna les découvertes fondamentales de son siècle. Pastor Émilien Frossard took an eminent part in the Revival movement in France and in the Protestant involvement in social questions in the 19th century; he was also a writer, an artist and a scholar. His works are marked by the cultural and technical evolution of his period: his writings, his pictures and his 'feeling for Nature' reveal him, in his attitude to landscape, as a Romantic; in his passion for geology and palaeontology he closely studied the fundamental discoveries of his century. Pasteur Émilien Frossard spielte eine wichtige Rolle in der französischen Erweckungsbewegung und dem sozialen Engagement des Protestantismus im 19. Jahrhundert. Er war aber auch Schriftsteller, Künstler und Wissenschaftler. Sein Werk ist von der kulturellen und technischen Entwicklung seiner Zeit geprägt: Im Bereich des Schreibens, des Zeichnens und des „Natur-Gefühls“war er durch seine Annäherungen an die Landschaft durchaus repräsentativ für die Romantik; mit seiner Leidenschaft für Geologie und Paläontologie begleitete er die grundlegenden Entdeckungen seines Jahrhunderts. | ||
