La réactivation de la mémoire et du patronage de ce saint passe par l'écriture de l'histoire, mais aussi par la traduction de sa vie, par l'exaltation de ses reliques et par l'organisation de processions. Cette volonté de dissocier la figure du réformateur et la ville de Noyon relève d'une vision catholique de la sacralisation des lieux, et se justifie essentiellement par l'assimilation hâtive faite par certains auteurs catholiques entre Jean Calvin et sa patrie. This article studies the way the dean of the cathedral of Noyon, writing the history of his city in the seventeenth century, tried to erase Calvin's memory by putting forward the figure of Saint Eloi, in a perspective of controversy. Reviving the memory and patronage of Saint Eloi is achieved by writing this history and also by translating the story of his life, exalting his relics and organizing processions. The dean's will to dissociate Calvin's figure from the city of Noyon is linked to the Catholic vision of sanctification of places and is mainly caused by certain Catholic polemicists' hasty assimilations between Jean Calvin and his native town. Als Geschichtsschreiber seiner Stadt bemühte sich im 17. Jahrhundert aus kontroverstheologischen Gründen der Dekan des Domkapitels Noyon um eine Radierung der Erinnerung an Jean Calvin zugunsten der memoria des Hl. Eligius. Die Wiederbelebung der Erinnerung an und der Schutzherrschaft von Eligius setzt nicht nur die Umgestaltung der Geschichte voraus, sondern auch die Übersetzung der Vita, die Würdigung der Reliquien und die Veranstaltung von Prozessionen. Dieser Versuch einer Trennung zwischen der Figur des Reformatoren und der Stadt Noyon hängt mit einer katholischen Auffassung des sakralen Raums zusammen und wendet sich grundsätzlich gegen andere katholische Autoren, die vorschnell Jean Calvin mit seiner Heimatstadt gleichgesetzt hatten. | ||
