Il contrarie, de fait, la vocation universaliste de l'Église de Calvin. Mais les fidèles sont contraints de se soumettre à ce statut. Dès la paix d'Amboise de 1563, ils acceptent à la fois la restriction territoriale du culte et l'arbitrage politique du souverain. En 1593, la conversion d'Henri IV au catholicisme met fin aux espoirs de l'evangelisation protestante. Les débats dénotent l'institutionnalisation du mouvement eschatologique sous l'égide de la souveraineté « du dehors ». Das Edikt von Nantes sichert in einmaliger Form die Existenz einer christlichen Kirche. Es garantiert ihr Überleben, zwängt jedoch gleichzeitig ihre evangelische Botschaft in enge geographische und politische Grenzen. Dadurch neutralisiert es die messianische Botschaft der Hugenottengemeinde und steht somit im Widerspruch zur universalistischen Bestimmung der Kirche Calvins. Die Gläubigen sind verpflichtet, sich diesem Status zu unterwerfen. Mit dem Frieden von Amboise 1563 akzeptieren sie gleichzeitig die territoriale Begrenzung des Gottesdienstes sowie die politische Schiedssprechung des Herrschers. Die Bekehrung Heinrichs IV. 1593 zum katholischen Glauben bereitet der Hoffnung auf eine protestantische Evangelisierung ein Ende. Die Diskussionen bezeichnen die Institutionalisierung der eschatologischen Bewegung unter dem Schutz der Souveränität von außen. The Edict of Nantes secured a novel form of existence for a Christian Church. It guaranteed its survival, but restricted its evangelical message within narrow geographical and political boundaries. Thus it neutralized the messianic force of the Huguenot community and thwarted in actual fact the universalistic vocation of Calvin's Church. Notwithstanding, the faithful were constrained to submit to this statute. From the Peace of Amboise of 1563 onwards, they accepted both the territorial restriction of their religion and the sovereign's political arbitration. In 1593, Henry IV's conversion to Catholicism put an end to the hope of Protestant evangelization. The proceedings show the 'institationalization' of an eschatological movement under the protection of an 'external' sovereignty. | ||
