La majorité d'entre eux, de religion réformée, se spécialise dans l'exportation et le négoce des vins et eaux-de-vie vers l'Europe du Nord. Les négociants Hinsch et Kruger, à la recherche d'une piété plus intime, d'une foi agissante, adhèrent les premiers à l'Église évangélique hinschiste, soutiennent les initiatives de Coralie Hinsch : création d'un établissement de bains de mer à Sète en 1847, fondation d'un asile familial dix ans après à Nîmes. À la fin du siècle, O. Kellermann privilégie le 6e commandement, « Tu ne tueras pas », pionnier du pacifisme chrétien, il défend ses coreligionnaires qui refusent le service militaire et publie des ouvrages pacifistes. Minoritaires, les Hanovriens ont participé au Réveil religieux protestant, leurs œuvres témoignent de leur fidélité à l'Évangile. "Hanovrian subject", this word was first applied to immigrants from Hanover, settled in Sète in the second half of the 19th century. Then it was applied to all the foreigners from northen Germany. Most of them, of reformed religion, become specialised in the trade wines and spirits and export them to northen Europe. The traders Hinsch and Kruger, in need of deeper piety and more active faith, are the first to join hinschist Evangelical Church and support Coraly Hinsch's initiatives : creation of sea water baths in Sète in 1847, founding of a family home, ten years later, in Nimes. At the end of the century, O. Kellermann favours the sixth commandment "you will not kill", a pioneer of christian pacifism, he defends his coreligionists who refuse to serve in the army and publishes pacifist works. A minority, the Hanovrians have taken part to the protestant religions awakening their works show how faithful they have been to the Gospel. | ||
