The author's purpose is to study how a strongly characterized Protestant family evolved within French society at the end of the Nineteenth century, through its demographic behaviour, its political choices and its religious and social practices. At the completion of this centurylong evolution, is it possible to view it (to use the therms of the Histoire de la France religieuse, volume IV, pp. 161 and 164), as an « over-successful integration », which resulted in the loss of a separate identity, or as new expressions of a « Protestant vitality »? | ||
