Josephus thus tries to put a distance between Jewish faith and life, which is obedient to the Lord's Laws and therefore consistent with Roman customs and the messianic rebellion which led his people into defeat. The messianic versions of Ruth, Targum and Matthew, which are contemporary to Josephus are deliberately proven wrong by his account of the Biblical story. | ||
