| Summary: | In this article, the author does a hermeneutical-methodological analysis of the significance and function of the witness texts of the 'Communio Sanctorum.' He shows that the lack of theological clarity, which has been complained about in many parts of the text, stems partially from the fact that the differences in the teachings of the confessions have not yet been sufficiently understood and discussed. However if ecumenical communication is to make progress, it is advisable to begin with a critical, exegetical explanation and a historical, systematic description of those teachings which cause dissent among the confessions. |
