Summary: | On the one hand Kohelet treats reality as a whole, and searches for its truth and its meaning, as the Presocratics had in mind through the concept of ἀϱχή. On the other hand he deals with reality from one particular angle, mainly because he thinks this is where the joy of life can be found. His ultimate way out of insolvable problems posed by the ancient theology of wisdom which in 1:13 and 3:10—11 and in other passages is his theonomous scepticism which converges with the subjects and the problems of contemporary theological thinking. |
