Summary: | I seek with this paper to present the operating mode and the social context of the Afro-Brazilian religious communities in Argentina, to which I summarize the process of transnationalization and consequent fixing of Afro-Brazilian religions from Brazil to that country. To do that, I engaged in field research with immersion in the community Ilé Nueva Conciéncia, located in the province of Buenos Aires, as well as in dialogues with different religious people and visits to reference/interest places for them. Further information was retrieved through literature and contact with other stakeholders not only in African-religious themes, but African descendance in Argentina. Afro-Brazilian religious communities and their religions resist an intolerant social environment in Argentina and a State that maintains Catholicism as government religion, and continue worshiping their ancestors and deities, being also pioneers in the fight against racism in the country. |
