Esta pía institución desarrolló una amplia actividad litúrgica, sobre todo a lo largo del siglo XVII. La procesión de la Resurrección en Plaza Navona fue, durante décadas, la expresión más viva de la grandeza de la Monarquía Católica en la Urbe. En el siglo XVIII, sin embargo, las posibilidades económicas de la archicofradía se redujeron notablemente. Aun así, la lista de los pobres atendidos por el procurador de la nación en 1726 fue prolija y permite estudiar, desde una mirada historiográficamente menos habitual, la realidad de las necesidades materiales de la comunidad española en Roma. | ||

The archconfraternity of the Holy Resurrection, which operate near of other national institutions, such as the churches and hospitals of Santiago de los Españoles and Santa María de Monserrat, among others, was erected by Gregory XIII in 1579. This pious institution developed extensive liturgical activity, especially throughout the 17th century. The Resurrection procession in Piazza Navona was, for decades, the most intensive expression of the greatness of the Catholic Monarchy in the Urbe. In the 18th century, however, the economic possibilities of the archconfraternity were notably reduced. Even so, the list of the poor cared for by the Procurator of the Nation in 1726 was lengthy and allows us to study, from a less usual historiographical perspective, the reality of the material needs of the Spanish community in Rome. | ||
