Summary: | “Can Christian faith affirm, or must it resist, new forms of human reproduction? Must it distinguish between methods, accepting some and rejecting others? Does it have any light to shed on the ‘how’ as well as the ‘whether’ question? …God is a God with maturity as a goal for man, then he wants him to leave the nest of dependency at this crucial point in his pilgrimage. He wants man to move the process of reproduction from necessity to freedom, from the realm of natural contingency to that of human choice, from the ‘accident of birth’ to its intelligent planning. We have already recognized this in birth control. We should affirm it as well in the more fundamental matter of conception itself.” |
