I regret to say that I found several aspects of the book disappointing, and it would have benefited from more aggressive editing. But I am not disappointed that Nelson has written the book, because Christians face a contemporary culture in which the pressures for “green” (in both metaphors of the word) are enormous., My first criticism is that the book's title is misleading. “Holy wars” between dueling high priests of economics and environmentalism are not the central point of the book. Instead, the book's primary contribution is to argue (convincingly) that the American environmental movement is in tension between two divergent streams.
