AB Here is the latest book by John Dear, widely known as spiritual leader, priest, former director of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, and a dedicated peace activist who has been arrested some seventy-five times. It is a book both simple and difficult. Simple, in that it is a collection of his recent essays, brief, and declamatory. Difficult, in that he incessantly challenges some of the deepest assumptions of our violent and competitive society. Topics include the nonviolence of Jesus, the Beatitudes, the nature of God, and stories from many protests in which he has taken part. Most memorable are the journal entries from pilgrimages he has taken to India and Colombia, in fervent support of local peacemakers.
