Nor does it fit well with v. 25, which balances grace and punishment. When it is omitted, however, vv. 24–25 make deep sense, which coheres with the literary context of Mark. Although the early manuscripts א B attest it, they are not free from addition through assimilation or influence of the immediate context. It may be one of such additions. Therefore, the support of א B cannot outweigh the internal evidence of textual coherence for its omission. | ||
