Here Laird convincingly counters the tendency in patristic scholarship to overemphasize the role of προαίρεσις, moral choice, in Chrysostom. According to Laird, Chrysostom treats moral choice as an expression of the mindset, rather than as the primal controlling factor in one’s acting. | ||
