He has an impressive range and depth of intellectual resources (his background is in social psychology) which he handles and deploys with some skill. Where these facts do show, again for better or worse, is where he moves too readily from exposition, to polemic, to romp, to rant. As we shall see, this book covers much ground in its 227 pages, and is divided into three parts: Reality (a philosophical defence of theism), Wisdom (an apologetic for Christianity), and Spirit (a devotional guide)., Pearlman begins by asserting (p. vi) that ‘faith follows rational belief’.
