520 |a Brian Davies has already exerted a seminal influence on the development of Thomistic thought in the contemporary world. His present book is not a philosophical and theological evaluation of Aquinas’ teachings on God and evil. As is indicated in the preface, it gives readers an overall view of his thinking on this matter and places Aquinas ‘in contemporary discussions’ (p. ix). Hence he does not follow up all the intricacies of the subject. He hopes that his work will help lay readers as well as students of theology and philosophy to understand Aquinas’ notion of God and evil. This does not require any previous knowledge on the part of the reader about theology and philosophy or about Aquinas’ thought., Davies divides his work into ten chapters.
