| Summary: | This interesting, diverse, and often thought-provoking collection of 13 essays (four of which have, at least in part, recently appeared in print elsewhere), together with a long introduction and a brief afterword, arises from a conference of the British Society for the Philosophy of Religion in 2009 on ‘God and Morality’. The contributors range from the well known to the relatively new to the field, and come from globally diverse academic provenances. Their topics range from familiar problems such as Euthyphro’s ‘dilemma’ to the questionable justness of some acts of generosity, and include discussion of ideas promoted in the Slovak enlightenment, of the questionableness of divine love towards those suffering in hell, and of the significance of evolution in understanding ethics. |
