Summary: | Given the subject and the vast number of predecessors lined up behind this short book, it should first be congratulated for its existence. What is it indeed among so many? For all its brevity, it is not only a case of being on a subject impossible to omit in the series to which it belongs, but it also amply earns its place in its own right. Of course, given the conventions of the series, it is certainly economical in its treatment of its subject, but it makes a useful addition to the resources available. It will serve well to meet the needs of students at school or university as well as their teachers, and church people keen to discover the state of the subject. There is a short list of ‘further reading’ which helps but does not overburden. |
