Summary: | The essays in this volume arose out of a 2006 session of the SBL's Prophetic Texts and their Ancient Contexts program unit. It focused on ‘how the violent imagery and rhetoric of the prophetic texts work’, approaching the issue from a wide range of methodological perspectives. This reviewer admits to some trepidation at the inclusion of vampire studies amongst these, but read on and was rewarded by the high quality of the contributions, both to the study of individual prophetic texts as well as to the study of the use and function of violence in these texts., After an introduction by the editors, Cynthia R. |
