520 | |a The facts of Theodore's life, his literary legacy, and his account of Christ as saviour are usefully recorded here together with the scope and status of the recent studies on which the author extensively draws. Rather too much (honest) conjecture and too much repetition eke out the first and second themes. A florilegium from the reworking of Malalas with original additions which is named in the title would have clarified the main points, that Theodore names Ephrem and uses a characteristic motif of his (Christ as healer) and, secondarily, that he was touched at one remove by Irenaeus. Certainly, it is shown here that remote theological ideas moved, as did personnel, across the ancient world in surprising ways. | ||
