Description
Summary:This collection of essays is the product of a conference, held in 2007 at the University of Texas at Austin, that brought together archaeologists working on Corinth and its environs, ancient historians, and scholars of Christian origins. As such it is a close companion to the volume on Urban Religion in Roman Corinth, published in 2005 (ed. Daniel Schowalter and Steven Friesen; Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press); like that volume, it is intended to foster communication and collaboration between these disciplines, and in particular to ensure that the study of Christian origins is firmly located within the study of religion and society in the same period. The present volume is dedicated to Nancy Bookidis, for many years Assistant Director of the Corinth excavations.
