AB This introduction to biblical hermeneutics focuses on the relationship between hermeneutics and Christian praxis. Hence the author does not aim to follow up all the intricacies of the ongoing development of philosophical hermeneutics and text linguistics. Rather he seeks to establish the importance of hermeneutical thinking and the critical understanding of biblical texts even for Evangelical and Roman Catholic Christians, who both share a strong concern for Christian community. Throughout this book readers are encouraged to consider critical thinking as an asset (and not an obstacle) to their faith and church life. In this sense the author solicits a wider interest for hermeneutical and theological thinking well beyond the concerns of academic theology.
