Summary: | Claudio Zamagni has done New Testament scholars everywhere a service in publishing an accessible critical edition of Eusebius’ Questions and Responses on the Gospels. Zamagni established himself as an authority on this treatise during his doctoral research from 1998 to 2003 under the direction of Alain Le Boulluec and Éric Junod. A complete version of Eusebius’ work has not survived in any manuscript, but various condensations and fragments have been transmitted for the investigation of modern scholarship. The two principal sources available to scholars are the catena of Nicetas of Heraclea on Luke and the Ekloge or Ἐκλογὴ ἐν συντóμῳ, an anonymous abridgement of Eusebius’ treatise found in MS Vaticanus Palatinus Graecus 220. |
