| Summary: | The subject of this literary analysis is the figurative language of the Song of Songs, which Hunt both categorizes and analyses in great detail, in addition to offering more general observations in a sort of stream-of-consciousness mode. The logic of much of the discussion eluded me. The writing is convoluted and confusing; the book is very much in need of editing and proofreading; there are many mistakes in the Hebrew (used frequently in the book) and its transliteration, and other languages do not fare much better. I even found the footnotes (where it was not always clear what the relationship was to the main text) and bibliography (in an unusual format) a stumbling block., The identification of some thirty rhetorical images or figures in terms of classical rhetoric (e.g. |
