Description
Summary:Isaac Kalimi has established himself as a major scholar of the books of Chronicles in many aspects of their interpretation both historically and in subsequent tradition. In this new book he turns his attention in particular to their reception in Jewish sources from the biblical period until the dawn of modern Jewish biblical scholarship—a span of some two thousand years. The spread of expertise is thus impressive, though for much of the time readers may wonder whether the results really justify the effort., The ‘journey’ of the book’s subtitle is for the most part strictly chronological. After a brief introduction there is initial discussion about inner-biblical citations in Qoheleth and Daniel as well as consideration of the books’ canonical position.
