Summary: | In this study Per Rönnegård analyses the frequent use of the Bible in the Apophthegmata Patrum by examining the Greek Systematic Collection. He argues that while any of the collections might have been used to consider the way in which biblical material was appropriated, interpreted, and applied to the context of the reading community of the Apophthegmata Patrum, ‘the availability and legibility of a modern text-critical edition’ (p. 6) makes the Greek Systematic Collection a preferred choice. Nevertheless, some reference to and use of other collections is occasionally made. |
