The new edition is considerably longer than its predecessors, though the scope and overall conclusions remain similar., McDonald attempts to provide a comprehensive study of the history of the biblical canon, considering both the canon of the so-called ‘Old Testament’ and that of the New Testament. He covers an enormous amount of ground, considering a range of issues both historically and theologically. Some discussion is provided on the more ‘theological’ level, considering the appropriateness (or otherwise) of having a canon of Scripture at all within a/the Christian church. |
