Summary: | This handbook offers to academics and postgraduates an overview of the field of systematic theology ‘as it is undertaken by contemporary practitioners’ (p. xii). It is subdivided into four parts, the first treating all the traditional doctrinal loci, the second theology's sources as traditionally and presently conceived, the third its currently prominent and pressing conversations with other disciplines, and the fourth its prospects, in the form of particular movements as well as more diffuse but nevertheless identifiable trends. The contributors are in the main prominent theologians of high calibre, drawn mostly from the United Kingdom and North America, Protestants significantly outnumbering Roman Catholics. |
