Description
Summary:This book has been welcomed by the scholarly community and undergraduates alike as an introduction to Athanasius. Dr Weinandy is an animated undergraduate teacher and his capacity to analyse crisply is evident in this text. Khaled Anatolios's introduction to Athanasius and his thought remains immensely accessible and offers perhaps a more nuanced contextual evaluation of his importance. Weinandy's is a different model because of its genre as a broad introduction, using sustained textual comparison. Starting with Contra Gentes–De Incarnatione, with careful résumés, makes it a very accessible work for those beginning Athanasian study. A soteriological thread emerges, linking the book compellingly.
