520 |a This volume contains a number of the papers presented in recent years to the Character Ethics and Biblical Interpretation Group of the Society of Biblical Literature. The sixteen essays, five of which (chs 1, 3, 6, 15–16) are adapted from previous or forthcoming publications, are grouped into four sections: ethics and the Gospels, ethics and Paul, forgiveness and reconciliation, and political formation and peacemaking. The divisions, though, are somewhat artificial and not entirely helpful, since we find essays on similar topics and texts in different sections (e.g. on the Beatitudes in chs 2 and 16, on Mark's Gospel in chs 1, 4, and 14, and on Pauline texts in all three later sections).
